Summer is a time of indulgence, especially for kids—there's no shortage of ice cream, soda, and candy. Unfortunately, these fun snacks can lead to cavities.

Cavities can be hard to spot on your own, so a dental checkup before the new school year is a good idea. This way, you can send your child back to school with a clean bill of dental health.

Tooth decay can also be painful and distracting for your child, who is ready to learn and study.

Dental Checkups and Teeth Cleanings in Lodi or Elk Grove

Dental checkups mean we can spot emerging cavities before they threaten your child's teeth and comfort. Advanced tooth decay can also cause tooth breakage and loss or require a dental crown instead of a tooth-colored filling. It's always better to treat a smaller cavity than trying to repair a larger one!

A dental cleaning (when age-appropriate) is the best way to start the school year with a clean oral structure free from tartar and plaque.

We can also discuss dental sealants to protect your child's teeth during the school year. Sealants lock debris away from dental enamel to help lower decay risks.

Preparing Your Child for the Playing Field

A custom mouthguard is essential if your child plans to participate in ball-oriented sports as part of a team or gym class. A mouthguard protects their teeth and gums during athletics, reducing dental emergency risks.

Custom mouthguards are far more effective than those in sporting goods stores. A generic mouthguard does not fit your child's teeth and gums correctly. It can shift and rub, causing discomfort and decreased protection when it counts!
