How does Invisalign® work?

Invisalign® is an orthodontic option for patients who don’t want to spend a long time in metal and wire braces. The aligners are virtually invisible with Invisalign, so they don’t draw attention to treatment.

How Invisalign Works

You first visit your Lodi or Elk Grove dentist to ensure that Invisalign will correct your orthodontic issues. If Invisalign or ClearCorrect—which we also offer—is the best solution, we take impressions of your teeth. Then a lab fabricates your aligners for treatment, which can last for several months or as long as two years, depending on the complexity of your orthodontic issues.

You wear each aligner according to the schedule Dr. Pritpal and his team provide. Then you go on to the next in the series. You’ll notice your teeth coming into position as you move through your supply.

At the end of treatment, we create a custom retainer. You wear the retainer at night to guard against orthodontic relapse.

Benefits of Invisalign

Unlike metal and wire braces, you can remove Invisalign to clean your teeth and eat meals. This makes oral hygiene sessions more effective and meals more pleasant.

Because Invisalign is made of soft plastic, you’re smile will not feel weighed down by cumbersome metal.

Straight teeth are easier to clean effectively. They are also healthier because an aligned bite reduces tooth wear.

Issues That Invisalign Can Correct

Invisalign can correct the following orthodontic problems:

  • Twisted, crooked, and overlapping teeth
  • Unusual gaps or spaces between teeth
  • Bite issues, including the overbite
  • General misalignment issues

Your dentist will talk to you more about what to expect with clear braces in Lodi or Elk Grove.
