How often should I visit the dentist?

Visit the dentist every six months for checkups and teeth cleanings. This schedule has been shown to keep teeth and gums healthy in the long term. In conjunction with regular dental care, it’s essential to maintain excellent oral hygiene at home.

Dental exams allow your dentist to diagnose conditions early, including:

  • Tooth decay
  • Emerging infections
  • Gum disease

When we can diagnose gum disease early (gingivitis), we can typically cure it. When it becomes periodontal disease, the only option is to treat the condition for improved dental health and overall wellness.

Without treatment, gum disease seriously threatens your heart, lungs, and other body systems.

Dental cleanings eradicate tartar and the bacteria that lead to infections, tooth decay, and gum disease.

Advice for At-Home Smile Care

It’s essential to keep your smile healthy between checkups and cleanings. Brush at least twice daily and floss once. It's even better to clean your teeth every time you eat.

We also urge you to call us if you have questions.

Remember, long-term oral health is always a collaboration between your dentist and you!
